Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka ranked the second worst in Air Quality Index (AQI) on Tuesday.
The independent live air-quality index monitor, Air Visual, shows Dhaka's AQI value as 246 around 11:00am on Tuesday.
India's Kolkata topped in poor air with an AQI value of 265 while China's Shenyang and India's Delhi stood the third and fourth on the worst air city list with AQI values 199 and 194 respectively.
Dhaka topped the list multiples times on 17 and 23 November, and 26 December and 6 January.
The air quality began to worsen as mercury fell in Dhaka and other parts of the country. Throughout the day, the air of the capital ranked poorly.
On Monday, the lowest temperature of the country was recorded 8.8 degree Celsius in Rajshahi while the highest temperature was recorded 27.1 degree Celsius in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The AQI is a tool for measuring daily air quality of any city or country. It tells how clean or polluted the air is, and how it may affect the public health.
